Raising Support Update #2

As of today, I am exactly 2 months out from when I will be beginning this journey that God is taking me on. I'm starting to get really excited about it! It's going to be crazy, but I know there's a reason for it all. I can't wait to see what is in store.

As of this current moment, I've had $700 come in for support. I want to say thank you to everyone that has already supported me! Whether it's through sending financial support or simply keeping me in your prayers I am very thankful to have that support. Although money is part of it, prayer is the key to it all; without it none of this would be able to happen! Thank you to everyone that has been praying for me!

Again I say, if you would like me to mail you a letter please let me know! I will send you one right away!

Days until I leave: 62
Support for the first phase: $700/$4000
Support for the whole thing: $700/$8000-$10,000

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. (Colossians 4:2)

Raising Support Update #1

(Testing the whole sending to facebook thing...still trying to get this figured out...)

I am still working on getting support letters sent out. I've sent out about 20 over the past week and am working on more. If you haven't already given me your address but want me to send you one please let me know!

As of right now I've already had $400 come in for support! That's about 10% of what I need for the first half of the program. It's super encouraging to hear how many people are willing to support me and I pray that God continues to provide in order to make this happen!

Days until I leave: 77
Support for the first phase: $400/$4000
Support for the whole thing: $400/$8000-$10,000

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

Here...We...Go!!! Support Letter!

Dear...Everyone!

I am excited to share with you an amazing opportunity that has come my way. I have been accepted into a DTS (Discipleship Training School) with an organization called Youth with a Mission.
YWAM is a program where you spend 3 months training at a base, then get sent out for a 3 month long missions trip to put into practice what you learned. The program I got accepted into is specifically geared towards Community Transformation, which means I will be working with kids and families in the communities that we go to.
Part of the excitement of this program is that I don’t know where I will be spending the mission part of this program. I will find out where I am going a few weeks into the schooling part of it. I recently had some friends go through the same program and they said it was a life changing experience. One of my friends spent the 3 months in the Favelas of Brazil working with the communities there. There were also teams that went to Sweden and South Africa and helped with the churches and communities.
It was a stretch for me to take the leap of faith to apply for this program. I am currently halfway done with my bachelor’s degree so I will be taking a leave of absence from school. I felt it laid on my heart that I needed to look into this and then everything just fell into place. I have always had a heart for missions, and have been on trips to New Orleans, Mexico, and even Costa Rica. This is another chance to use God given passions to serve His name. I will have opportunities to use my musical talents and my people skills though this journey. I’m very excited to see how God molds and breaks me through this experience.
The whole trip is a 6 month long program. I will be leaving for training on the 28th of September and spend the next 3 months there. Although the date varies for the mission portion, depending on where I go, I know that I will be departing at the end of December.
Unfortunately, the program comes with a cost. I must raise the money to cover both the schooling and the mission trip. The schooling costs $4,000.  This covers my room and board, my meals, and the schooling for the 3 months that I am there. I need to have this portion paid in full by the time I arrive at the training base in September. The missions portion of the program will cost anywhere from $4,000-$6,000 depending on where I go. This amount covers getting me to the location, where I’m staying, and my food for the 3 months. This portion I must have in full by the middle of December.
I invite you to share with me in this experience through your support. Whether it be financial support, or simply keeping me and the team in your prayers I would greatly appreciate it. If you would like to support me financially, you can mail a check to me at:

Please email me at joshmmorrison@yahoo.com for my address. don't want to have it out on the internet for anyone to see...

I will then apply it to my account for the trip. Unfortunately, the program is unable to give out tax deductible receipts for these donations.
If you would like to receive updates about my fundraising as well as my experiences please let me know! You can e-mail or text me about it and I will add you to the list. I have created a blog that I will regularly update through the fundraising process as well as throughout the actual trip. The address to that is at the bottom of this letter. If you would like to get more information about Youth with a Mission, check out their website http://www.ywam.org/.
I thank you very much for taking the time to read this letter. I hope I will have your support through this adventure.

In His Name,
Josh
